The varsity volleyball team fell short against a strong Sherwood team to finish the season 15-5. Joyce Magnon led the offense for the Colonels with 10 kills and Christi Sledge added 6. The Colonels totaled 26 kills for the night. Midori Lunde had 13 assists and Chloe Tanseco added 10. Marissa Pease lead the team defensively with 15 digs and Carissa Tanseco added 7 digs. Sofia Nafal-Infante totaled 14 good passes for the night.

The varsity volleyball team defeated Blake 3 sets to none in the regional quarterfinals. The team totaled 26 kills and 18 aces. Joyce Magnon led the offensive with 7 kills and Christi Sledge added 6. Midori Lunde totaled 9 assists and 4 aces while Chloe Tanseco added 11 assists and 3 aces. The Colonels also had a good night passing with 37 good passes and 20 digs with 19 good passes from Marissa Pease, 5 digs from Sofia Nafal-Infante, and 3 digs from Carissa Tanseco. The Colonels will play in the regional semifinal on Monday 11/6.

The Colonels travel to Bethesda to take on the Wildcats! Match starts at 6:00pm
The varsity volleyball team defeated Walter Johnson 3 sets to 1 last night in the last regular season match of the season. The team totaled 33 kills and 18 aces. Joyce Magnon led the offensive with 14 kills and Christi Sledge added 7. Midori Lunde totaled 16 assists and 5 aces. Chloe Tanseco added 13 assists and 3 aces. Magruder defended well at the net totaling 5 blocks for the match with 2 from Gabbi Smith. The Colonels also had a good night passing with 60 good passes with 22 from Marissa Pease and 21 from Sofia Nafal-Infante. Playoffs will begin next week.

SENIOR NIGHT ~ 6:00pm
The varsity volleyball team fell short against a strong Wootton team. The Colonels started off strong but dropped the first set 25-21. Joyce Magnon led the offense for the Colonels with 10 kills and McKayla Dean added 9 and Christi Sledge added 7. The Colonels totaled 29 kills for the night. Midori Lunde had 18 assists and 3 aces. The Colonels totaled 35 digs for the match. Sofia Nafal-Infante had 7 of the digs and Marissa Pease also added 7 and totaled 23 good passes for the night. The Colonels will learn from this match and look to bounce back on Wednesday against Walter Johnson.

Joyce Magnon led the offensive with 12 kills, Christi Sledge added 6 and Sofia Nafal-Infante added 8. Midori Lunde and Chloe Tanseco recorded a combined 29 assists for the night. The Colonels also had a good night passing with 36 good passes with 8 from Carissa Tanseco. The Colonels next match is Senior Night on Monday 10/23.

Joyce Magnon led the offensive with 9 kills, Christi Sledge added 7 and McKayla Dean and Anna Hacker had 5 each. Midori Lunde and Chloe Tanseco recorded a combined 24 assists for the night. Magruder defended well at the net totaling 6 blocks for the match. Sofia Gonzalez added 3 aces and Midori and Chloe added 2 each. The Colonels also had a good night passing with 54 good passes and 34 digs. The Colonels next match is Thursday at home against Blair at 6:30pm!

The varsity volleyball team fell short against a strong Clarksburg team. The Colonels started off strong winning the first set, 27-25. Joyce Magnon led the offense for the Colonels with 11 kills and McKayla Dean added 10 and Christi Sledge added 8. The Colonels totaled 33 kills for the night. Midori Lunde had 16 assists and 3 aces and Chloe Tanseco added 13 assists. The Colonels totaled 15 digs for the match. The Colonels will learn from this match and look to bounce back on Tuesday against Wheaton.

The varsity volleyball team avenged an early season tournament loss to Damascus with a big win Tuesday night. The team won 3 sets to 1 and totaled 39 kills and 10 aces. Christi Sledge led the offensive with 10 kills and 3 aces. McKayla Dean added 9 kills and Joyce Magnon added 7 along with 3 aces and 3 blocks. Midori Lunde and Chloe Tanseco recorded a combined 32 assists for the night. Magruder defended well at the net totaling 6 blocks for the match. The colonels also had a great night passing recording 55 digs and 59 good passes. Marissa Pease had 19 good passes and 21 digs, Midori Lunde added 10 digs to the total and Carissa Tanseco recorded 8. The Colonels next match is Thursday at home against Clarksburg, JV at 5:30pm and Varsity at 6:30pm!

The Colonels travel to Paint Branch on Friday to take on the Panthers!
The varsity volleyball team beat a strong Paint Branch team last night in an intense 5 set match. The team had a great night offensively, totaling 39 kills and 23 aces. McKayla Dean lead the offense totaling 13 kills. Joyce Magnon added 11 kills and Sofia Nafal-Infante added 6. Midori Lunde and Chloe Tanseco ran an effective offense recording 20 assists and 15 assists respectively. Chloe went on a service run in the 5th set serving for 7 points straight. Magruder did a great job defending at the net recording 10 blocks for the match, Sydney Duppins had 3 of the blocks. Marissa Pease controlled the back row with 19 digs and also added 6 aces. The Colonels had 61 digs for the night.

The varsity volleyball team fell short against a strong Sherwood team. The Colonels started off strong with a 9-2 lead in the first set and then slowly fell behind. Christianna Sledge led the offense for the Colonels with 7 kills and McKayla Dean added 5. The Colonels totaled 16 kills for the night. Midori Lunde had 9 assists and Chloe Tanseco added 7 along with 3 aces. Marissa Pease lead the team defensively with 12 digs and Carissa Tanseco and Sofia Nafal-Infante added 5 digs each. The Colonels will learn from this match and look to bounce back on Friday against Paint Branch.

Zanni's 25th Annual Magruder Invitational
The Colonels finished 2nd in Zanni's Magruder Invitational after losing to a good Damascus team in the final in 3. Magruder went undefeated in pool play defeating Quince Orchard, Watkins Mill, and Gaithersburg. The Colonels then went on to beat Kennedy in 3 in the semi finals. Marissa Pease was named to the All Tournament Team and Joyce Magnon was named MVP of the tournament.

The varsity volleyball team beat Springbrook 3 sets to none. The team came out strong and kept the momentum for the entire match. The team totaled 23 kills, 19 aces, 23 good passes, and 29 digs. Joyce Magnon led the Colonels offense with 8 kills and a .545 hitting percentage, McKayla Dean added 6 kills, Christi Sledge had 4 and Maya Pulliam added 2 key kills in the 3rd set. Midori Lunde and Carissa Tanceso recorded 4 aces a piece. Midori Lunde and Chloe Tanceso had 22 combined assists for the night. Sofia Nafal-Infante recorded 9 digs for the match and Marissa Pease added 13 good passes. The Colonels host Zanni's 25th Annual Magruder Invitational on Saturday, September 23rd! First serve is at 9:00am!

The varsity volleyball team beat Northwest last night in an exciting 5 set match. The team had a great night offensively, totaling 39 kills and 13 aces. Christi Sledge led the offense with 15 kills and 5 service aces. McKayla Dean added 6 kills and Gabbi Smith added 4. Midori Lunde and Chloe Tanseco ran an effective offense recording 21 assists and 16 assists respectively. Joyce Magnon totaled 8 kills and 4 blocks at the net. Marissa Pease controlled the back row with 24 good passes and 14 digs. Sofia Nafal-Infante added 7 digs to the colonels 52 dig total. The Colonels next match is next Tuesday at home against Springbrook!

The varsity volleyball team beat Rockville 3 sets to none. The team had a great night offensively, totaling 27 kills and 20 aces. McKayla Dean had 6 kills and Joyce Magnon and Christi Sledge added 5 each. Midori Lunde did a great job running the Colonels offense recording 18 assists. Chloe Tanseco had a remarkable night from the service line with 8 aces. Marissa Pease anchored the back row with 9 digs.

First Match is Tuesday!!
The Varsity volleyball team fell short Tuesday night against a strong Churchill team. Churchill returned 7 players from their 2022 team who lost in the state semi finals. The Colonels lost in straight sets but showed determination and resilience. Christianna Sledge led the offense for the Colonels with 5 kills and McKayla Dean added 4. The Colonels totaled 16 kills for the night. Chloe Tanseco totaled 8 assists in her first varsity match and Midori Lunde added 7. In the 3rd set Marissa Pease went on a service run to help the Colonels fight back and tie the set at 20-20. During her service run she recorded 3 aces. Marissa also led the team in digs with 9. Lastly, Freshman middle hitter Sydney Duppins recorded 2 blocks in her first high school match.
